Things Teachers Wish Parents Knew Tip # 7 Let them Rest

Sleeping is fundamental to the growth of children.  Their bodies, brains, and immune system need their rest. Children should get around 10 hours of sleep every night. Some children might need more, some might need less. If your child is falling asleep, it's because they need the rest, so let them rest. Usually, if it's past 6:00, I try to keep my daughter up and I tuck her in an hour earlier. If they nap and wake up before 5:00, they won't have trouble going back to bed at bedtime. Also remember that the later you give your child sugar, the harder it's going to be for them to fall asleep. So, keep sugar to a minimum.
